Where Craft Meets the Kitchen. The Kegani Damascus Paring Knife.
Most kitchen knives are tools. The Kegani Damascus Paring Knife is something more — a knife where the materials are as considered as the metallurgy, and where using it at the counter feels like a genuine pleasure rather than just a task.
The handle is filled with real shell fragments encased in clear resin — under natural light, they shift and sparkle in multiple colours, making every knife unique. The blade is 67-layer Damascus steel with a VG-10 high-carbon core, hand-sharpened to 15° and vacuum heat-treated to 62HRC. It will hold that edge longer than any standard stainless knife you've used, and it will look exceptional doing it.
The Blade
- 67-layer Damascus steel — superimposed forging creates the distinctive feather-pattern finish unique to each blade
- VG-10 core steel — world-renowned high-carbon core for exceptional sharpness and edge retention
- 62HRC hardness — significantly harder than standard stainless; holds an edge far longer between sharpenings
- 15° hand-sharpened edge — precision-ground for a razor-sharp, clean cutting angle
- Vacuum heat treatment — maximises blade toughness and minimises brittleness
- Blade length — 5 inches (127mm)
The Handle
- Shell fragment resin — real shell pieces encased in clear resin; iridescent colour shift under light makes each handle unique
- Marine-inspired aesthetic — coastal, organic, and striking — unlike anything else in a knife block
- Comfortable grip — the resin construction is smooth, non-porous, and easy to clean
Includes
- Kegani Damascus Paring Knife
- Premium black gift box
- ABS blade sheath — for safe storage and transport
Best Used For
- Peeling fruit and vegetables with precision
- Coring, trimming, and detailed knife work that requires a short, manoeuvrable blade
- Slicing, dicing, and chopping smaller ingredients
- Decorative garnish and plating work
Important: What Not to Use It For
Damascus steel is sharper and harder than standard stainless — but that hardness comes with reduced flexibility. Do not use this knife to chop bones or cut hard, frozen, or high-impact objects. Doing so risks chipping the edge.
Care Instructions
- Hand wash only with warm water after every use — dry completely with a soft towel immediately
- Never put in the dishwasher — the heat, moisture, and detergent will damage both the blade and the resin handle
- Store on a magnetic knife strip or in the included ABS sheath — never loose in a drawer
- Apply a thin layer of food-grade mineral oil to the blade periodically to protect the Damascus finish
67 layers of Damascus. Shell fragments in resin. A 5-inch paring knife that's as remarkable to look at as it is to use.
